Terms of Service

Last updated: 10 April 2026

These terms of service (“terms”) govern your use of drawing-grid.app. By using the service, you agree to these terms. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.

drawing-grid.app is operated by the operator of drawing-grid.app (“the operator,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). You can reach us at contact@drawing-grid.app.

1. Introduction

drawing-grid.app is a free, browser-based drawing grid tool for artists. It lets you upload reference photos, crop and resize them, convert to black and white, and overlay customisable drawing grids — all inside your browser.

By accessing or using drawing-grid.app, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. These terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect and use your data.

2. The service

drawing-grid.app provides the following features: upload reference photos, crop and resize images, position images on a canvas, convert to black and white for light distribution analysis, overlay customisable drawing grids, a colour picker, edge detection, and tonal value view.

The service is provided free of charge. There are no paid tiers at this time.

The service is provided as-is, with no guarantee of uptime or uninterrupted availability. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

3. Eligibility and account registration

You must be at least 16 years old to use drawing-grid.app. This threshold is consistent with GDPR Article 8, which sets 16 as the default age for consent to information society services.

Account registration is optional. You can use the core drawing grid tool without an account, but registered users get access to additional features such as image library, work history, and settings that sync across devices. You can register with email and password or with Google OAuth.

When registering, you must provide accurate information. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential. Each person may hold one account — do not share your login details with others.

4. Acceptable use

What you may do

  • Use the tool for personal, educational, or commercial artwork projects
  • Upload reference photos for which you have the right to use

What you must not do

  • Upload content that is illegal or that violates third-party intellectual property rights
  • Upload child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — this is absolutely prohibited
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the service
  • Use the service for scraping, spamming, or automated abuse
  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose

5. Intellectual property — your content

You retain full ownership of any images you upload. We do not claim any rights to your content.

As a registered user, your images are automatically uploaded to our cloud storage to build your library and work history. If you were using the tool before registering, any image already loaded in the editor will be uploaded automatically upon registration. By registering, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence solely to store and serve those images back to you. This is the minimum licence necessary for us to provide the service. We do not use your images for any other purpose.

We do not share your images with third parties, except as required to provide cloud storage (AWS S3, eu-west-1 region) as described in our Privacy Policy.

If you use drawing-grid without an account, your images are processed entirely on your device and never leave your browser. No licence grant is needed or given.

6. Intellectual property — the service

The drawing-grid.app website, application code, user interface design, and all original content are the intellectual property of the operator.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of the service itself. Nothing in these terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you.

7. Privacy and data

How we collect, use, and protect your data is described in our Privacy Policy. We will not repeat the full policy here, but the key points are:

  • Unregistered users: your images never leave your device. All processing happens in your browser.
  • Registered users: your images are automatically uploaded and stored on AWS S3 (eu-west-1, Ireland) to provide your image library and work history.

8. Account termination

You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting contact@drawing-grid.app. A self-service account deletion feature is planned.

When your account is deleted, all personal data, preferences, and uploaded images are permanently removed.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. We may also terminate or suspend the service at any time, with reasonable notice where possible.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law — will remain in effect.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uptime, availability, or error-free operation.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for any loss of data, loss of profits, or any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service.

EU consumer rights: Under EU law (including Directive 2011/83/EU and national implementations), certain implied warranties and consumer protections cannot be excluded for consumers. These terms do not attempt to exclude any rights that cannot legally be waived. The limitation of liability above applies only to the extent permitted by law.

10. Third-party services

drawing-grid.app uses third-party services to operate, including Google OAuth for sign-in, AWS S3 for image storage, and an email provider for transactional messages. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

We are not responsible for the availability or conduct of third-party services. Use of Google OAuth is subject to Google’s Terms of Service.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users (for example, via email or a notice on the site). Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

12. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator. The service infrastructure is hosted in the EU (Hetzner, Germany).

For EU and EEA users: nothing in these terms affects your mandatory consumer protection rights under EU law or the law of your country of residence.

If you have a dispute, please contact us first at contact@drawing-grid.app so we can try to resolve it informally.

EU users have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
